Recent Roles and Raves

-Recently in South Pacific at Granbury Theatre Company "Amber Lanning was phenomenal in the role of heroine, Ensign Nellie Forbush (a self-proclaimed hick from Little Rock, stationed on an island in the South Pacific during WWII). Lanning has an easy charm and an infectious smile, all the while carrying the weight of Nellie’s troubles. Perhaps a bit quirkier than your run-of-the-mill “cock-eyed optimist,” she contrasts very nicely with the talented Brian Lawson as the local French planter, Emile de Beque. As they quickly fall for each other, both handle the sweeping score deftly while diving deep into the emotional baggage of troubled pasts and current prejudices." Reviewed by Genevieve Croft , Associate Critic for John Garcia's THE COLUMN

-Recently in Smokey Joe's Cafe at Plaza Theatre Company "In a heavy ensemble production such as this one, it is difficult to identify stand-out actors or actresses. However, I feel that the talents of Amber Lanning, Caitlan Leblo and Nate Milson must be recognized. All three of these talented individuals were showcased on stage, and made their solos look so effortless, and easy. Ms. Lanning and Ms. Leblo were able to belt and fill the space with beautiful melodies and harmonies... Out of a very talented ensemble, these three individuals certainly shine and allow the songs of Leiber and Stoller to come out of the musical archive, and to be as relevant now as they were many years ago." Reviewed by Genevieve Croft , Associate Critic for John Garcia's THE COLUMN

-Recently seen as Irene Molloy in Hello, Dolly! at the Granbury Opera House " ...Lanning has an absolutely incredible voice. I would have loved to hear more of her singing. Her performance of “Ribbons Down My Back” was phenomenal, making me look forward to each time that she was performing onstage..." - Reviewed by Eric Bird, Associate Critic for John Garcia's THE COLUMN

-Recently seen as Suzy in the Marvelous Wonderettes at the Granbury Opera House "Amber Lanning was incredibly believable in the role of Suzy Simpson. Through facial expressions and body language, Lanning convincingly portrayed the young ingénue... Ms. Lanning’s enthusiasm and honesty on stage was a very true depiction of young girls of the time period. She never faltered in her delivery, and all interactions with other cast members were believable and spot on. Ms. Lanning had an incredible stage presence and a lovely, honest sense of humor and interaction with her fellow actresses." Reviewed by Genevieve Croft , Associate Critic for John Garcia's THE COLUMN
